Hand-drawn sketches of project kits aimed at giving the kits a DIY vibe.

Microbit seismometer using infrared emitter on a pendulum and writes data to serial port. A running Python script writes a CSV file with graphable data.

Basic and advanced copper-tape circuits.

Faultlines and Infrastructure diorama using LittleBits (4th/5th grade level) - View Sway for step-by-step build process

Homemade seismograph using Arduino - get the code on GitHub. The device uses an infrared emitter on a pendulum and writes data to serial port. A running Python script writes a CSV file with graphable data.

Various STEAM-based projects: using LEDs to light up a constellation (students learn about the mythological aspects of constellation names and designs while learning how to create an electrical circuit using copper tape and LEDs); Van Gogh's Starry Night in needle felting with LEDs; a compass rose constructed of cut felt and directional needle indicated by 25 LED display on the Microbit.

Microbit-enabled Hot Wheels race track using two reed switches and a magnet on the car. First switch resets the timer on the Microbit. When the car leaves the starting line, the timer begins. The second reed switch is triggered at the finish line and the car's time is printed to the 25 LED display.
